Jacob Stella completed the Make-up Artist Essentials course in 2013 and since then has created an amazing name for himself.

He started off doing freelance work and volunteering his time in photo shoots and runways shows. He got a job at Benefit Cosmetics and MAC cosmetics and started up his own Youtube Channel and Instagram. He is the face of NYX Cosmetics, and has become the first male star of their TV commercials. He was successfully in the Top 6 for the NYX Face Awards Australia/New Zealand in 2017.

Jacob has over five years’ experience as a professional make-up artist and began his YouTube channel as a result of his passion for all things beauty. With plans to branch into more lifestyle/fashion content, Jacob brings a unique perspective to the Australian beauty landscape.
He said it is part of the reason why the Instagram Explore feed exists: he has a no holds barred approach to beauty.

Unlikely colour combinations, other-worldy skin, and three-dimensional textures are all in his armoury. The makeup expert and brand founder knows all too well the power of the Explore feed: it’s a place where ideas are born, and specific looks come to life.

“I feel like when I’m flicking through Instagram right now all I’m seeing is graphic liner, a tonne of colour, and I’m really, really feeling dewyskin right now as well.” With the foundations set, Jacob and his makeup artist have teamed up to take on this instalment of Madeup By Explore, piecing together a perfect liner look that turns its back on conventional colour and shape.

It is part of a broader movement on Instagram that’s seen editorial, kaleidoscopic makeup looks pushed into the spotlight. Saturated colour, bold texture, and high-shine finishes aren’t just for the avant garde – they’re for everyone, every day. For Jacob, this look in particular was all about the play between makeup and art.

Jacob zeroed in on a super precise punctured with red, yellow, and blue as the source of inspiration. From there, it was a touch and go operation, building out the eye with super fine liquid liner, (including an electric blue shade), and soft, airy lashes.

Jacob is a complexion that’s buffed and contoured to perfection, before blinding gloss and highlight is added back in. At the meantime, everyone praises his makeup skills.
